Living In The Body By Joyce Sutphen

Body is something you need in order to stay
on this planet and you only get one.
And no matter which one you get, it will not
be satisfactory. It will not be beautiful
enough, it will not be fast enough, it will
not keep on for days at a time, but will
pull you down into a sleepy swamp and
demand apples and coffee and chocolate /cake.
Body is a thing you have to carry
from one day into the next. Always the
same eyebrows over the same eyes in the same
skin when you look in the mirror, and the
same creaky knee when you get up from the
floor and the same wrist under the watchband.
The changes you can make are small and
costly-better to leave it as it is.
Body is a thing that you have to leave
eventually. You know that because you have
seen others do it, others who have once like you,
Living inside their pile of bones and
flesh, smiling at you, loving you,
leaning in the doorway, talking to you
for hours and then one day they
are gone, No forwarding address.

Madison Matlock

Passor-by! Not only did I lose health and fortune in life,
In the search and vision which were mine
But I lost your esteem as well as for losing my heart's desire.
I was not like the veterns of wars
Admired for my disabled body and mind,
And pointed to as a hero of great battles.
No, I was smiled at as one who had failed and lost,
Having asked everything on a vision.
No pension for me! No reverence for a creeping strength!
Was my life a failure then?
I succeeded, I won!
Having seen visions, and dreamed dreams
beyond anything you can imagine
who give medals, and reward the do-natives!

Autumn Inspiration (4) By Tu Fu Translated By Red Pine

Kuming lake was the jewel of the Han
Emperor Wu's banners appear before my eyes,
The Weaving Maid weaving in vain below the moon,
the stone whale shimmering in the autumn wind
Scudding black clouds of winds wept wild rice
drifting pink power from dry lotus pods,
but sky high passes are only for birds,
Rivers and marches are a fisherman's world.

quote from a book called Qian Jia Shi (One Thousand Poets Work)

Say Google

Every time
you get online,
you must pick
one web browser,
maybe firefox,
internet explorer,
or google chrome,
then you load websites,
read news,
or blogs,
you think of jungle,
or freshly baked bagel,
or colorful lego,
but always,
you need to
to make everything
don't you
"Google" ?

Haiku on Political Party Conventions

Jobs, cooperations,
Democratic party rings,
we can do better.
Bill Clinton, speaker,
Eloquent and experienced,
Still remains effective.
Father, daughter, wife,
Politicians' real samples,
Keep things interesting.
today, tomorrow,
people think and act a lot,
it's time for weekend.

Penates By Thomas Lanier Williams

Identities become confused
with chairs and rugs and such
when these for many years are used
to our recurrent touch...
A porcelain that's out of place,
The leaking of a pipe,
A ravel in a bit of lace,
or Melons over-ripe.
Can more disturb our consciousness
and cause us more dismay...
than maritime disasters or
Starvation in Cathay!

I Wish....Sunday Prompts

I wish to function as if I'm single,
Illustrate or discover knowledge
through stormy times, maybe harmless
ricks, it's human nature that
one strives for freedom and power,
Not necessarily drown in relational issues,
But just stand as independent unit,
of course, there is a child in all of us,
as far as my eyes can see,
men and women carry damaged souls,
but bound through common thread
within, we want ways leading to
security, satisfaction, and amity.
The process would not be easy...
Let's pray for sunny days, via sallow
ashes, with our minds full of lights,
hearts filled with wishful proposals.

Daily Babysitting and Mothering

Couples, children, love,
Strollers, diapers, finger foods,
Busy time, growth costs.
Hot coffee, cold coke,
Drive through, orders, hamburgers,
Napkins, cashiers, live.
Short bushes, grey bricks,
Cello strings, handicapped
slots, enough parking space.
Tables, chairs, voices,
Silent thoughts, stretched writings,
Business, progress!

Thanks to Hyde Park poetry for giving me such a profound award, I am tickled by the juices and inspirations, here, I wish to nominate  Helen Rice Obama for week 76...

The Pen With Talent in Magician and Elements in Gene By Andrew Mayfield, JR! (Magician=Mo'Su'Shi, Gene=Ji)

I'm not an artist,
who draws pictures of birds, with fancy colors
such as blue and red,
I draw my pictures with words
that can be easily read.
Some artists capture daytime hushes,
Dabbing pictures with their brushes.
I think like the magician ,
I'll draw my pictures with a pen.
A picture is fixed,
A pen is flexible,
One's condition changes,
one he learns
how to read, and think
must have something stimulating in gene.

Please Don't Confuse Unexpected Accidents (1%) and Sentences By Law Due To Crimes (70% Above Chnace)

Some say: my way is the better way
to live, free, no shame,
thus they choose what's appear gay
to connect, making grand claim.
Traditionally, we stand firm to our core values,
Family, children come first,
Faith and virtue shall not be confused,
with ill logic or intended contest.
America is proud of its democracy,
Individual freedom is the key,
Reinforcing one's contrasting life style to another one
is wrong, although the society tolerates it, mostly.
I cannot respect you
after you figure out ways to pee in my backyard,
Leaving an odd smell under my nose, pee yew,
and begging the public to honor you for not robbing me full.
yes, you can obtain certain things illegally,
but never the blessings from divine God,
you see, God is wanted forever, because people keep sinning,
it's your sin to mislead some confused minds via your behavior absurd.
Here is the statistics:
When you commit crime,
your chance to be punished is 70% or above,
when you behave properly,
your chance to be hurt by accident is less than 1%,
almost zero chance to be sentenced when you are innocent.
It's up to you to decide your future,
so far, it's true that people fall of tracks
because opportunity is available to them...
Good luck, learn your ropes,
and keep mending your fences with hopes.

Color Me Orange and Yellow

Hyde Park Thursday Poets Rally Week 74 (October 4 -October 10)

Color me orange and yellow,
Dancing with optimism and perfection;
Embracing and performing high and low,
Painting time with novel perception.
Color my conscience at ease,
Loads of compassion, and sensitivity;
Draw my wishes in golden grace,
Full picture of emotions and activity.
Color a heart shape on my cheeks,
Offer my accomplishment a unique sparkle,
Lead me to winding paths and creeks,
Guide me to places filled with worry free chuckle. by image credit
